It looks like that the new wearable strategy that Intel has put in place is paying off. According to a reliable report, the next Google Glass is to be powered by Intel processors.
The current model uses a solution by Texas Instruments.
Google is expectedly working on the next iteration of the Glass that is on track for arrival next year. While it is not clear which chips will be used here, but according to the Wall Street Journal, this is part of a broader strategy that has seen the processor giant making an entry into the wearable space.
“Intel has targeted wearables with products that include an ultra-small x86 processor called Quark, a tiny circuit board for wearable devices called Edison and a chip called SoFIA that combines a processor with cellular communications.”
But this collaboration between the two technology giants does not end here.
Along with providing chips for the next Google Glass, sources claim that Intel plans to promote Glass to companies like hospital networks and manufactures while at the same time developing new workplace uses for the device.
Rumors still, but it rather bodes well for the future of Google Glass, don’t you think?
